Roof was under renovation when I visited. Great example of how the old houses were built in the province.

The House of Dakay is a heritage house preserved and maintained to show visitors and the locals alike what Ivatan stone houses looked like years ago. The walls are made of big stones from land and sea. Some have corals in them. The house is small- no partitions. Has two windows facing inland. Flooring is made of wood. I tried on a "vacul" - a woman's headress while we were there 😆 Note: There is a toilet at the back of the stone house

Authentic native house made of corals. Owner entertained us and allowed us to take photos inside and even joined our group photo outside the hut.

Nice houses. The houses are made in stones. And some of them are so historical. Because of the Japanese people that invades our country during the World War II. According to the people there. The stoned house was the idea of the Japanese people. So during that time the Japanese people taught us how to build a stone house.

The house of dakay is the oldest stone houses that is still in existence in Ivana, Batanes. While entering the house, tourists are expected to take of their shoes in respect for the place and the owner of the house. While inside the house, you will be able to see the details of about the creation of the house, its owner and some artistic paintings. What's amazing about this house is it is still of very good condition despite the years that have gone by. One more thing, farming attires used by Ivatans are also ready for rentals which will also give you that feeling of being one with the locals.

Well preserved example of Batanes's vernacular architecture and a maytuwab type of house. Originally built in the late 1800s. Food storage area for root crops and refuge for farm animals can be glimpsed in this dwelling.

Great place to take pictures with the vakul- traditional ivatan headdress. It was really cold when we were there so we were glad to spend a few minutes here to shield ourselves from the cold

One of the last original stone houses in Batanes that still belongs to the original family. It’s authentic and you are allowed to go in and even try on the traditional cloths of the ivatans.
